In the heart of the Pembrokeshire National Park, Picton is centrally located to explore some of the most spectacular natural scenery in the British Isles. A popular desitination for holiday makers and holllywood film makers alike there is a lot to discover from the ancient monuments, Celtic landscape to the castles, coastal paths, wild bird colonies, beaches and spectacular coastal scenery. The bluestones from the local Preseli Mountains were used to construct the world heritage site at Stonehenge. The Picton weekend is a very relaxed and friendly event with lots of socialising to do! We are a close distance to Haverfordwest and Narberth for shopping, restaurants and pubs!

Competitors and supporters are actively encouraged to come and stay over for the weekend of the event,
Pembrokeshire is a picturesque and tranquil holiday destination with lots to see and do! To make your stay
as pleasureable as possible we are able to recommend the following:
Onsite parking - perfect for horseboxes and vehicles, access and space is plentiful on site
Onsite stabling - we will have around 14 temporary stables available on a first come first served basis
Onsite camping - is available for supporters and vistors.
Please note no electric hook up or facilities are available. Water and portable toilets are available
Offsite stabling - is available at local livery yards, available on request.

The Festival of the Horse is a unque kind of horse event tailored to the celebrate and showcase the finest in our equestrian heritage. Set in the glorious grounds of Picton Castle estate, the show enjoys plenty of parking and ring space. The competition held over two days and includes:

Special in-hand classes for World and Rare breeds, Coloured traditional and Sporting, Veteran, and Natives.
Special iridden classes for World and Rare breeds, Coloured traditional and Sporting, Veteran, Natives and Costume Concours d'Elegance.
Special classes for side saddle for Equitation, Classical Ladies, Concours and Costume Concours.
Special classes for best child handler, best horse and rider, best fancy dress, best verteran horse.
Welcome to Picton!
The Picton Castle Festival of the horse is an exciting new event celebrating the diverse abilities of the horse from in-hand to ridden and driven. Along with the inhand and ridden classes, the event also celebrates Carriages at the Castle as one of the UK’s premier carriage driving events.
Picton Castle is the 12th Century ancestral home of the Royal Portrait painters, the Philipps family and has enjoyed a long history with horses. It is fitting that we return to Picton today.

One of the highlights of the event is the opportunity to meet and socialise with other competitors and stewards at the saturday night Gala black tie dinner in the Castle and Castle Restaurant. This is a limited availability pre-booked ticket event. Contact us if you would like tickets £35 each.
